On a whim, we decided to drive to drive to Portland for a night and spend the following day driving up the Oregon coast. Neither of us had visited Portland before and it’s only a few hours from Seattle.
We were only in Portland for a night but it seemed like a great city. There were a ton of restaurants and it’s a fairly walkable city. The drive up the Oregon coast was really pretty. There are miles of empty beaches (it’s still a little cold!) so we had fun running and skipping on the beach.

We love San Francisco and have a great group of friends who live there, so we planned a trip to stay with our friends Chuck and Jessica for a weekend.
Chuck and Jessica live in an awesome area of San Francisco near the water and within walking distance to many great restaurants. Our trip coincided with Fleet Week, an airshow over the Golden Gate bridge. We had a great time catching up with friends and always love being in San Francisco!

After months off from training because of our vacation, Zvonimir was ready to start training for something. He found the Black Diamond Triathlon near Seattle. Though it was August, the weather was extremely cold and the swim looked miserable! Even though it was 40 degrees out there were still people swimming only in a speedo…. meanwhile, I had my winter jacket on!!

After we returned from our vacation in Europe we spent a week with my family in Pennsylvania. Z played paparazzi at my nephews little league game.

We planned our India/Slovenia trips so we had about a month before we started working and could do househunting in Seattle. Z’s company gave us temporary living in a small, fully furnished one bedroom apartment a few blocks from Pike’s Place Market (pointed out on the photo).
We have an amazing view of Puget Sound and are across the street from the ferry terminal, which takes you to Olympic Peninsula. Since we’re not yet working we’ve been spending our time doing a lot of house hunting and exploring the local area. We have both only spent a weekend in Seattle before moving here so we have a lot of exploring to do!!!
The Olympic Peninsula is just across the water from downtown Seattle. You can either take the ferry across or you can drive south to Tacoma then around the Peninsula. You could spend multiple days exploring the peninsula but we decided to do a one day trip – a very long day! We drove the entire peninsula and took the ferry back to the city. The peninsula is really beautiful and we’re looking further to exploring it further! Next time I think we’ll plan to stay on the peninsula and make it a two day trip!
