Snow Lake Hike

by Amy ~ October 5, 2008

There are an abundance of alpine lakes in the Pacific Northwest. The hike to Snow Mountain lake was a steady uphill climb for several hours but the scenery around the lake was well worth the climb!

Slovenia & Croatia 2008

by Amy ~ October 1, 2008

We visited Zvonimir’s parents in Ljubljana, Slovenia for a much needed vacation. As usual, we packed a bunch of activities into our trip.

We spent some time on the Istrian peninsula of Croatia and visited a couple of medieval hill towns that were really cute. We visited a great little shop where a local made glass pendants. I can’t wait to make them into necklaces!

We then traveled to Murter to relax and visit family. Zvonimir’s little cousin Niko visited daily and chatted non-stop. He was sad when we left because he “still had more things to tell us.” So cute!

Zvonimir participated in the annual race of traditional sailing boats with his father. He had a great time and it was a beautiful fall day.

Amy’s Danskin triathlon

by Amy ~ August 17, 2008

Today I competed in the Danskin triathlon, where close to 5000 women swam 730 meters, biked 20k and ran 5k. I had a great cheering section (Zvonimir, my cousins Bill, Leslie and Cole, and my friend Britt – Thanks guys!!  Your support was awesome!!).

The race was great and I’m hoping to participate again next year!  I was most worried about the swim and my wetsuit (they’re not exactly comfortable!) but once I got in the water I was pretty relaxed and had a good swim.

Lake Quinault

by Amy ~ July 13, 2008

Our friend Sara joined us for a trip to the Olympic peninsula where we hiked through the rain forest to a mountain lake. Beautiful wildflowers bloomed along the path. We hoped to catch a glimpse of elk or a bear (from far away of course!) but saw only a few grouse.

Lake Stevens half ironman

by Amy ~ July 5, 2008

Zvonimir competed in the Lake Stevens triathlon where he swam, biked 56 miles and ran 13 miles. He had an excellent race and finished 3rd in his division. It was also a great race to watch. The top two professional contestants sprinted to the finish, the winner taking the race by 1 second!
