Tulip farm photos

May 5, 2008

Just over an hour drive away is an area that grows fields of tulips and daffodils. The first time we drove there we were a little early and the tulips had not started coming out. We had hoped to return during the Skagit tulip festival but were both on work travel and didn’t make it back until the first week in May. Luckily, one farm had not yet cut the tulips so we were able to take some pictures. The day was gray and gloomy but it was still amazing to see the fields of yellow and red from afar and to see the many different types of tulips! We also saw a huge hawk but it flew away before we were able to take a photo.

Welcome to Seattle!

July 25, 2007

We planned our India/Slovenia trips so we had about a month before we started working and could do househunting in Seattle.  Z’s company gave us temporary living in a small, fully furnished one bedroom apartment a few blocks from Pike’s Place Market (pointed out on the photo).

We have an amazing view of Puget Sound and are across the street from the ferry terminal, which takes you to Olympic Peninsula.   Since we’re not yet working we’ve been spending our time doing a lot of house hunting and exploring the local area.  We have both only spent a weekend in Seattle before moving here so we have a lot of exploring to do!!!

The Olympic Peninsula is just across the water from downtown Seattle.  You can either take the ferry across or you can drive south to Tacoma then around the Peninsula.  You could spend multiple days exploring the peninsula but we decided to do a one day trip – a very long day!  We drove the entire peninsula and took the ferry back to the city. The peninsula is really beautiful and we’re looking further to exploring it further!  Next time I think we’ll plan to stay on the peninsula and make it a two day trip!
